“Midway upon the Road:” A Study of Openings in Contemporary Short Fiction

“Midway upon the Road”: A Study of Openings in Contemporary Short Fiction. University of Kostroma Press, Kostroma, Russia, 2011

This book is devoted to the study of narrative openings in contemporary short stories. The cognitive analysis of “preliminary” and “delayed” expositions pursues the theories of M. Bakhtin’s chronotope and M. Nikitin’s topochronos on the basis of surface and deep narrative structures.
